Whether you want to delve into the past or simply enjoy some stunning surroundings, there's plenty of local history and heritage to keep you interested. Take a stroll up Kendal Castle and enjoy the views over the town and river below. Abbot Hall Art Gallery, The Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry and Kendal Museum are also within easy walking distance. Or take a trip out to visit one of the many historic houses that are also home to magnificent gardens, such as Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle, and Holker Hall.

And as the day draws to a close, there’s still more to offer. Kendal is very fortunate to be home to the nationally acclaimed Brewery Arts Centre, a multi-purpose arts complex presenting a year round programme of theatre, dance, music, cinema, and exhibitions, together with a range of participatory activities including art and craft workshops and classes. Housed in a 150 year old former brewery building in it's own landscaped garden, The Brewery also has its own restaurant and bar making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
