Here at Hilltop Lodges the emphasis is on being a family owned site and that’s most clearly demonstrated in those extra little touches that mark out this development of exclusive holiday lodges.

Having previously operated a garden nursery on the site, Philip and Frances Counsell have lived at Hilltop for more than 12 years. Their simple aspiration to share their surroundings is now reality:

“We knew from our own love of the stunning landscape and peaceful surroundings that the site would make the perfect location for a holiday home to be shared and enjoyed by others. And so the idea for Hilltop Lodges was born”.

Originally a good Lancashire lad, Philip grew up in the heart of the Lake District and comes from a family background firmly rooted in welcoming people to our spectacular region. Having worked for the family business in Hawkshead, and then Levens, near Kendal, Philip went on to start his own landscape gardening business and nursery at Hilltop.

Frances and Philip (‘helped’ by their two children aged 10 and 6) have put their landscaping skills to excellent use in creating perfectly laid out private garden areas for each lodge. And thanks to their careful planning and green-fingered nurturing the site is sure to mature and impress for years to come.
